Feeling Good in Chicago

Updated: Sep 21

My husband and I took a recent trip to Chicago, Illinois! We had never been there before. It was fascinating!
The first thing we noticed was the height of its buildings. Chicago has over 130 skyscrapers! One is 110 stories high, three are 100 stories high, and the others 50 to 80 stories high. They each have unique designs and purposes. The ingenuity and knowledge that would go into building something so tall spellbound us!
The people we met in Chicago were very kind and helpful. There were people of so many ethnicities who were workers and tourists. They weren’t rude or feisty.
We met hotel people, uber drivers, tourist boat attendants, restaurant waiters, bicycle shop owners, museum experts, and many visitors who showed a helpful, friendly attitude.
One of the most impressive things to me was the park system along Lake Michigan. There are 18 miles of public shoreside parks, beaches, bike and walking paths, piers, and museums to enjoy. People were strolling with children and pets, walking fast, running, biking, and even swimming along the shore. It was fun to see so many people out and doing!
Chicago has a very unusual feature. The Chicago River runs through downtown. It has a fun vibe along its edges with towering skyscrapers, quaint cafes, a walking path, terraced places to sit, and kayakers, river boats, tourist boats, water taxis, and the like, floating on by. To make the scene even more exciting there are bridges every block going across the river for cars or above ground trains for people to get around in.
We came back from our trip to Chicago exhilarated! We had our tennis shoes on the whole time! What fun to visit such an impressive city!
