Art To Lift Your Home

In a time of confusion and darkness there is no place like home to lift our spirits and brighten our minds. One of things we can do is place uplifting art on our walls.

I have looked at wall art in places like restaurants, doctors offices, college buildings, banks, churches, and other places where the decor affects the people in the building. Usually it is restful and encourages positive conversation and reflection. It’s not cluttered and is cohesive with other pieces of art in theme and color scheme.

I decided to use this effect in our home. After arranging a room I determine where the eye will go and think about what the spotlight will be. A wall art piece will usually be the answer. I’ve tried restful scenes, pictures of nature, and pictures of Christ. These elements instantly calm the mind.

Pictures of family can add a sense of belonging to a room. It also helps family members prioritize who is important in their lives. How about an ancestor tree chart to help the family see where they come from? A few special family pictures sprinkled through the house can fill a home with love.

Finally, there is the fun and whimsical art! I have found these pieces have a special place, too, but are more like the pepper with the salt. Not so much! We have fun wall art in the kids bathroom, next to a hobby, or a hard working space. They remind us of joy in everyday moments.

Finding the right wall art to go in a room is not usually easy. There are amazing chance encounters at a store or art exhibit, but usually it’s a bit of a quest. There are websites that sell art in all dimensions and with various frames. There are websites with religious art and many pictures of Christ to choose from. Just remember that less is more with art. A few simple pieces can bring a feeling of well-being and peace.
